Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met on Sunday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi, and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
The talks focused on regional and international developments, with the ministers stressing the need to de-escalate tensions, prevent further sources of friction and strengthen coordination to support regional stability.
The officials also discussed co-operation within the BRICS framework and efforts to strengthen South-South co-operation and promote a more balanced and equitable international order that supports the interests of developing countries.
Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s diplomatic efforts to contain regional escalation and pursue political solutions to ongoing crises.
He also stressed the importance of protecting international navigation, maintaining the free flow of trade and ensuring the stability of global supply chains.
The minister further said such efforts are essential to strengthening security and stability at both the regional and international levels.
