Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri has reiterated the strategic character of ties with the United States in all fields, adding that Egypt is looking forward to boosting these ties at all levels.

Minister Shoukri made the remark on Sunday while meeting a group of US senators and their aides, on the sidelines of the world climate summit (COP27) held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

The COP27 chief commended the broad interaction between the two sides during the series of multi-level official meetings on top of which the summit between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and US President Joe Biden, Abu Zeid said.

The US Senate delegation members, for their part, hailed Egypt’s capability to organise and host the enormous event of COP27, adding that they aspire to contribute to the success of the conference and achieving such desirable results that would realise the goals of the international climate action, the spokesman said.

They also stressed the strategic character of relations between the two countries and Egypt’s leading role in the region, particularly for boosting peace and stability, Spokesman Abu Zeid said.
