Egypt’s  Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty asserted Egypt’s keenness to boost Sri Lankan investments in Egypt and benefit from the promising investments which are based on manufacturing and benefiting for incentives and advantages presented by Egypt to foreign investors, thus positively effecting the development process in both countries.

This came on Saturday during Abdelatty’s reception of Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabry where they had tete-a-tete talks followed by plenary talks with the participation of delegations from both countries in addition to a ceremony to ink cooperation agreement in the field of diplomatic training.

The meeting tackled distinguished ties between Egypt and Sri Lanka and the developments witnessed in the past years, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

Both ministers agreed on the importance of maintaining positive development to reflect historical relations between both countries.

Abdelatty lauded activating bilateral cooperation mechanisms between both countries.

He also welcomed the reformation of the Egyptian-Sri Lankan parliamentary friendship association in the Sri Lankan parliament.

Abdelatty lauded keenness of Sri Lanka’s major companies working in the field of ready-made clothes to boost investments in Egypt, Abu Zeid said, reiterating Egypt’s keenness to overcome obstacles facing foreign investors.

Meanwhile, Sabry asserted the keenness of the Sri Lankan private sector to promote their investments in Egypt, pointing out that there are several promising investment fields in Egypt.

Sabry asserted keenness of his country to boost cooperation with Egypt in the cultural field and the field of counterterrorism in addition to a number of other fields.

Abdelatty pointed out to the importance of cooperation in the field of tourism and working on increasing touristic exchange between both countries to activate a memorandum of understanding inked in this field in 2008.

Both ministers tackled promoting benefiting from the pioneering Egyptian experiment in the field of upskilling workers in the touristic and archaeological sector.

Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s readiness to cooperate with Sri Lanka in the field of combating terror, pointing out to the pioneering role of Al Azhar to spread the moderate and tolerant thinking.
