Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk announced an extension of the deadline for submitting property tax returns until the end of December 2026, allowing taxpayers more time to benefit from the recently introduced incentives and facilitation measures.
The minister also extended the period for filing applications to settle tax disputes and benefit from exemptions on late payment charges by six months, until 2 April 2027, in what he described as a swift response to feedback from experts, media representatives and citizens.
Kouchouk noted that citizens have registered more than two million property units through the property tax mobile application within 100 days. He added that 1.5 million citizens have created accounts on the application, while 1.2 million tax returns have been submitted, thanking users for their engagement and confidence in the new system.
The minister said the ministry will continue upgrading the application, simplifying procedures and improving services. He added that immediate work is underway to strengthen the system’s capacity to accommodate high registration volumes and to expand technical support services to help citizens overcome any difficulties.
He also stressed that feedback and suggestions received from the public, media outlets and social media platforms will be incorporated into future improvements.
Assistant Minister for Tax Policies Rami Youssef said extensive meetings are being held with business community representatives to explain the new property tax facilitation package. He added that dedicated communication channels and technical support teams are available and that service improvements will be monitored on a daily basis.
Youssef clarified that the six‑month extension for tax dispute settlement applications applies to disputes between taxpayers and the Real Estate Tax Authority that are before courts of any level, as well as cases registered with or under consideration by tax appeal committees at any stage of the dispute process.
