The International MICE & Wedding Forum (IMWF) was launched in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh from December 18-21 to promote wedding tourism.
The forum, organised by the Turkish travel agent Inventum Global and held under the auspices of the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry, is to promote Sharm el-Sheikh as a destination for hosting wedding parties.
Amr El-Kady, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, said the forum will focus on the future of luxury tourism.
Bünyat Özpak, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Inventum Global, said that the company plans to market Sharm El-Sheikh for the next five years by attracting more Indian weddings, as India is a potentially huge source market for weddings globally.
In September 2022, the authority had participated in the first conference of the Indian Event Management Welfare Federation-Global (EMF-Global), one of the most crucial alliances that includes specialists in wedding planning. This conference was also held in Sharm and brought popularity to the city, which saw the organisation of many such events during December and October that year.
India is the world’s leading exporter of wedding parties and the third in exporting conferences, incentive tourism, and conferences worldwide.
