Extraordinary round of AL’s Economic, Social Council starts under Egypt

An extraordinary round of the Arab League’s Economic and Social Council started on Tuesday at the level of senior officials under Egypt to prepare for a ministerial meeting due on Thursday where an economic and social file of the coming Arab summit due in Algeria in November will be prepared.

Egyptian Assistant Minister of Trade for economic affairs Ibrahim el Segini said that this round will have a great impact on the track of joint Arab work.

He said that this meeting comes to assert the keenness of the Arab countries to promote joint Arab work and hold to a new vision focusing on economic opportunities, challenges and changes in the Arab world to contribute to achieving the goals of the previous Arab summits.

Segini also thanked Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul-Gheit and his assistants along with all the employees of the general secretariat on the efforts exerted in preparing for the Arab summit.

Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary General Haifa Abu Ghazaleh said that this meeting is held in light of major Arab and global developments where the countries of the world are trying to recover from Covid-19 and implement sustainable development plan 2030.
