The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Tuesday that remittances of Egyptians working abroad increased 1.5 percent on yearly basis in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2021/2022, recording $8.1 billion compared with $8 billion in the same period of the previous year.
Assistant CBE Governor for Economic Researches Sector Adel Abdel Azim said the total remittances in nine months from January to September 2021 reached $24 billion, recording a rise of dlrs 1.9 billion with a percentage of 8.8 compared to the same period last year.
In a press release, the CBE added that remittances dropped in September 2021 by 3 per cent to stand at $2.62 billion, compared to $2.70 billion in the corresponding month in 2020.
