The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has received the 36th batch of wounded and sick Palestinians through the Rafah land crossing, while dispatching a new humanitarian aid convoy to Gaza, the organisation said in a statement on Sunday.
The ERC is facilitating entry and exit procedures for Palestinians and their companions, while providing hot meals, clothing and personal care items. Return kits were also distributed to those heading back to Gaza, it added.
Earlier in the day, the ERC launched its 179th “Zad Al-Ezza” convoy – “From Egypt to Gaza”- carrying more than 5,590 tonnes of comprehensive humanitarian aid.
The shipment included over 2,680 tonnes of food supplies and flour, more than 1,170 tonnes of medical supplies and relief materials, and around 1,740 tonnes of fuel to support hospitals and vital facilities in the enclave.
The Red Crescent also sent more than 7,580 tents to shelter those affected, alongside 11,470 clothing items, over 695 blankets, 240 mattresses and more than 13,450 tarpaulins.
The ERC has maintained a continuous presence at the border since the start of the crisis, coordinating aid deliveries to Gaza as part of a national mechanism.
It added that the Egyptian side of the Rafah Crossing has remained open, with total humanitarian assistance delivered exceeding 900,000 tonnes, supported by more than 65,000 volunteers.
