CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad Monday discussed with representatives of cement companies investment opportunities in the domain of treatment and getting rid of waste through companies specialized in producing organic fertilizers, in order to reduce the quantity of the non-recyclable waste.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting attended by Assistant Environment Minister for waste affairs and Acting Chairman of Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA) Yasser Abdullah alongside Advisor to the WMRA Khaled el Fura.
Fouad expounded efforts exerted by the state as regards the WMRA as well as regarding cooperation between ministries concerned, topped by the Ministry of Local Development.
She highlighted the efforts to engage the private sector in the waste management system.
The minister asserted the necessity of involving cement companies in the domain of waste recycling to produce Refuse-derived fuel (RDF).
