CAIRO/LOS ANGELES – Egypt’s Emigration Minister Soha Gendi stressed – during her meeting with members of the General Union of Egyptians Abroad in the US – said the union managed over the past year to positively affect the Egyptian community in the US.
The meeting was held on the fringe of Gendi’s meeting with the Egyptian community in Los Angeles within the framework of the agenda of her current visit to California.
She commended the role played by the effective role played by the union to serve the Egyptian community in the western coast and California.
She said the union represents an important model for social work, considering it as the largest civil society organization abroad.
She underlined the ministry’s keenness on sustainable communication with all members of the Egyptian community abroad in the western US.
She added that the ministry is ready to offer all kinds of services and support to the Egyptian community.
For his part, Egypt’s General Consul in Los Angeles Ahmed Shahin lauded the role played by the union in promoting ties with the Egyptian citizens.
He stressed keenness on offering all needed services in coordination with the embassy and general consulate.
Meanwhile, Raafat Salib, the union’s chairman, reviewed the efforts exerted by the union over the past period.
He noted that the union is offering all needed services for Egyptian expats, referring to launching support for remittances of Egyptian expats via national banks to promote monetary reserves and increase investments in the Egyptian economy.
