CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Nabila Makram said the political leadership is keen to follow up the developments related to the situation of the Egyptian nationals in Ukraine on a daily basis.

During a meeting held on Thursday with Poland’s Ambassador in Cairo Michel labenda at the ministry’s headquarters, Makram added that the political leadership issues directives on the necessity of preserving the academic future of the Egyptian students studying in various Ukrainian cities.

The minister thanked Poland for its efforts in simplifying the passing of all segments of the Egyptian community in Ukraine through its borders via providing safe crossings in the wake of the current Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

Makram said her ministry holds daily zoom meetings with the representatives of the Egyptian community in Ukraine and has issued an application in cooperation with Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to coordinate with the bodies concerned regarding the demands of the Egyptian students returning from Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Polish ambassador expressed his appreciation to the great efforts that the Egyptian State exerts to take care of its citizens in Ukraine, expressing readiness for further coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Emigration in this regard.

He shed light on his country’s efforts to contain the crisis through providing members of the different communities crossing borders from Ukraine with information, food, water and medical care.
