Egypt’s Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Soha Gendi said the 4th edition of the Egyptian expatriates conference to kick off on July 31 is of especial importance as a total of 1,000 Egyptian nationals living in 56 countries have registered to attend the event with expected active participation of ministers and parliamentarians.
In statements to MENA Sunday, the minister of state for Emigration and Egyptian expatriates’ affairs said, the 4th edition of the Egyptian expatriates conference comes at a very important juncture, especially in the wake of the current economic crisis gripping the world as a result the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war and its impact on inflation, soaring prices, including prices of basic commodities, foodstuffs and energy.
The gathering – in the presence of Finance Minister Mohamed Maait- will review latest development related to the Egyptian economy, bank efforts to serve Egyptian expatriates and getting them acquainted with monetary policies, saving opportunities and providing expatriates with firsthand information on potential investment opportunities, said the minister.
Regarding banking and expatriates’ remittances, Gendi said Chairman & CEO at Banque du Cair Tarek Fayed will present a detailed explanation to participants and answer their enquiries in this respect.
Meantime, the event will also witness the announcement of details pertaining to the establishment of the “Egyptians Abroad for Investment” company, added the minister.
The active contribution of Egyptian expatriates in the national dialogue will also figure high on the gathering’s agenda, in addition to addressing the societal service dimension, along with the possibility of benefiting from the wide expertise of Egyptian scientists living abroad, she said.
The minister further highlighted the great success of the 3rd edition of the Egyptian expatriates conference as it was able to fulfill aspiration of Egyptian expatiates, thus reflecting the ministry’s dedicated efforts to engage with expatriates wishing to connect with their home country.
The fourth edition will address the challenges faced by Egyptian communities abroad and focus on their essential needs, she added.
