The Egyptian Healthcare Authority (EHA), and the Egyptian Medical Syndicate are posed to boost bilateral joint co-operation.

EHA Chairman, Ahmed El-Sebky, who doubles as General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project (UHI), and Syndicate Chairman Osama Abdel Hady, held discussions on Sunday which focused on continuous medical training and the exchange of databases to support the sustainability of the UHI system and further improve the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.

During the meeting, El-Sebkystressed the authority’s commitment to improving doctors’  workconditions, removing whatever obstacles to enable them to lead healthcare teams within the UHI system.

Co-operation with the syndicate aims to build an integrated framework for qualifying and developing medical professionals, investing in human capital as a cornerstone for the system’s success and service quality enhancement, he said.

The two sides also discussed activating the Medical Syndicate’s Centre for Ongoing Professional Education (SCOPE) to train medical staff in EHA hospitals according to the latest medical standards and protocols.

They also probed signing a co-operation protocol to utilise professional training centers and deliver continuous medical education programs across specialties, in line with global medical advancements.

The meeting further addressed reviewing physicians’ contracting mechanisms and exchanging databases with the syndicate to benefit from the expertise of general practitioners and retired doctors, supporting primary healthcare services and ensuring continuity and quality of care.

Investing in human resources is fundamental to the success and sustainability of the UHI system, he said, referring to the co-operation with the syndicate as a pivotal step toward building qualified medical cadres capable of delivering safe, high-quality healthcare.

Abdel-Hai praised the EHA’s efforts to develop the healthcare services system and affirmed the Syndicate’s full readiness to cooperate in the public interest.

The Universal Health Insurance system represents hope not only for citizens but also for healthcare providers, given the comprehensive restructuring and reform it has introduced to Egypt’s health system, he stressed.
