PARIS – The French Thales Group said on Saturday that Egypt’s programme for modernizing its railways network and transportation system will achieve higher rates of safety and efficiency.
In statements to MENA, Thales CEO Sherif Barakat said that Egypt is having one of the oldest railways networks in the world that dates back to around 170 years.
The French group is proud of cooperating with the Egyptian side in modernizing the Egyptian railways system, he pointed out, adding that the railways and underground metro serve around four million people per day.
He noted that the group is cooperating with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport and the Egyptian National Railways Authority in implementing the project of upgrading the Egyptian transportation network.
