Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Gohar Nabil, launched the third edition of the “10K Race the Coast” on the North Coast on Saturday, bringing together 1,000 runners from 30 nationalities.
The race is part of the “Yalla Sahel” summer events organised by United Sports Company.
It aligns with the ministry’s broader strategy to expand community sports participation and promote physical activity as a way of life.
During the event, Minister Nabil reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting mass-participation sporting events that encourage healthy lifestyles.
He also highlighted sport’s growing role in boosting tourism and reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for major international sports events.
He described the “10K Race the Coast” as a successful model that combines athletic competition with tourism promotion, reflecting the increasing popularity of sport across different age groups.
He stressed that the ministry will continue to support initiatives that strengthen sports culture and enhance Egypt’s profile as a premier destination for sports tourism.
The event featured 10km, 5km, and 2km races, enabling participants of all ages and fitness levels to take part in an inclusive sporting experience along the Mediterranean coast.
Building on the success of previous editions, the “10K Race the Coast” has become one of Egypt’s flagship summer sports events, contributing to the North Coast’s growing reputation as a hub for major athletic and tourism activities.
The race also reflects the success of the “Yalla Sahel” initiative in delivering an integrated programme that combines sport, entertainment, and tourism in support of Egypt Vision 2030.
