Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), Walid Gamal El-Din, met with Steve Hines, US Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis, and his delegation at the Authority’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting introduced SCZone’s competitive advantages and explored cooperation in industry and logistics, with representatives from the US Embassy in Cairo also present.

Gamal El-Din presented SCZone as a global investment hub, emphasizing its integrated model that links industrial zones, logistics centers, and seaports on the Mediterranean and Red Seas. He noted the zone’s access to over two billion consumers through international trade agreements, competitive energy and labor costs, and advanced infrastructure including ports, roads, railways, and tunnels. He stressed SCZone’s readiness to support production and exports and highlighted plans for a promotional tour in the United States this fiscal year to expand cooperation with American companies.

The US official expressed admiration for SCZone’s progress in port development and infrastructure, praising its flexibility and dynamism. He said the zone offers a strong investment opportunity for American firms across multiple sectors and voiced optimism about future cooperation.

This meeting reflects Egypt’s efforts to position SCZone as a strategic solution for global companies facing supply chain challenges, while strengthening economic ties with the United States.
