Egypt’s population reached 106,447,654 million on Saturday, the nation’s main statistics agency said on Sunday.

This marks an increase of 126,000 people since 11 May, the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) said.

It added that the aforementioned increase brings the population growth up to approximately 3,000 new births a day, or 125 new births an hour and two new births a minute.

Egypt’s population reached 105 million on 3 June 2023, according to CAPMAS.

The nation’s population growth rate dropped by 46% between 2017 and 2023, the government says.

In 2023, the population growth rate declined to 1.4%, the lowest in 50 years, compared to 2.6% in 2017, according to CAPMAS.

It said there were 2 million new births in Egypt in 2023, a decline of 15% from 2018.

According to the agency, Cairo is the nation’s most populated governorate, with 10,334,558 people living in it.

The Egyptian capital is only followed by Giza, which is part of the Greater Cairo region, where 9,626,349 people live.

The Nile Delta Governorate of Sharqia also comes in third place with 8,005,334 people living in it, CAPMAS said.
