Representing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly delivered Egypt’s address at the inaugural meeting of the newly established Board of Peace, held in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Madbouly expressed Egypt’s appreciation to US President Donald Trump for convening the board’s first session. He noted that the recent cessation of the war in Gaza would not have been possible without President Trump’s direct engagement and commitment to regional peace, an outcome many had once considered unlikely.

Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt’s support for President Trump’s vision to usher in a new era of peace and coexistence in the region, a framework that upholds the Palestinian people’s right to self‑determination and statehood in line with international legitimacy.

He also welcomed the US position opposing the annexation of the West Bank.

The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of maintaining the territorial connection between the West Bank and Gaza to enable the Palestinian Authority to resume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip. He expressed Egypt’s support for the Peace Board’s mandate as the overarching framework for managing the transitional period in Gaza.

Madbouly also highlighted the need to empower Palestinians to administer their own affairs through the National Committee for Gaza Administration, stressing that the committee must be able to operate from within Gaza and across all its areas.

He called for clear tasks to be assigned to Gaza’s Executive Council to support the committee’s work and reaffirmed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to train Palestinian police forces to help maintain security.

The Prime Minister noted Egypt’s appreciation for President Trump’s stance opposing the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, reflected in the Twenty‑Point Plan. He underscored the importance of supporting Palestinians’ ability to remain in their homeland by launching early recovery and reconstruction efforts throughout the Gaza Strip, ensuring its geographic unity is preserved.

Concluding his address, Madbouly said the meeting should serve as a starting point towards achieving the shared goal of lasting peace.
