Egypt’s Ministry of Industry announced on Saturday that its affiliated agency National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has successfully extended its international recognition from European Accreditation (EA).
This development allows the council to accredit certification bodies for carbon footprint assessment in accordance with ISO 14067 standards.
This development has been formally reflected in the updated records of both the Global Accreditation Co-operation Incorporated (GACI) and the EA, further strengthening NAAC’s international standing and credibility.
NAAC’s Executive Director, Mohamed Hassan, stated that this achievement is in line with the ministry’s ongoing efforts to maximise the benefits of NAAC’s international recognition, enhance its technical capabilities in measuring and reducing carbon emissions, and support the accreditation of certification bodies in this field.
He noted these efforts are expected to contribute to strengthening Egyptian exports to European markets and to support Egypt’s positioning as a potential hub for carbon credit trading.
NAAC currently operates across 13 accreditation fields for conformity assessment bodies, making it one of the most comprehensive accreditation bodies globally.
Its international recognition is granted by GACI, as well as three regional organisations: the African Accreditation Co-operation (AFRAC), the Arab Accreditation Co-operation (ARAC), and the EA.
