Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, attended a press conference to announce the opening of applications for the 2026 intake to the Egyptian Military Academy and military colleges, alongside the launch of the first civilian admissions to Kayan University of the Armed Forces.

The new admissions cover holders of the General Secondary Certificate, Al-Azhar Secondary Certificate and equivalent qualifications, in addition to university graduates applying to serve as combat officers and bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree holders seeking appointment as specialist officers.

The Armed Forces also announced the admission of new cohorts to the Armed Forces Health Institutes and Military Sports Schools.

The event was attended by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; Diaa Rashwan, Minister of State for Information; commanders of the Armed Forces’ main branches; senior military officials; public figures; media representatives; and cadets of the Egyptian Military Academy.

During the conference, Major General Mohamed Salah El-Torky, Director of the Egyptian Military Academy, announced the admission of new classes to the academy and military colleges and unveiled Kayan University of the Armed Forces for civilian students. Senior academy officials outlined admission requirements for the Military College, Naval College, Air Force College, Air Defence College and Military Technological College, while the heads of the Military Technical College, the Armed Forces Faculty of Medicine and Kayan University’s faculties presented their respective admission criteria.

Major General Dr Mohamed Saad Hegazy, Director of the Armed Forces Medical Services Department, reviewed the admission requirements for the Armed Forces Health Institutes, while Major General Mohamed Ezzazy El-Assal, Head of the Armed Forces Sports Authority, outlined the criteria for admission to the Military Sports Schools.

In his address, the defence minister conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s national development vision by preparing highly qualified generations capable of driving the country’s progress across all sectors.

He stressed that admissions are based exclusively on merit through a rigorous, technology-driven evaluation system that eliminates human intervention and guarantees the highest standards of transparency, fairness and equal opportunity. He also urged applicants not to be misled by rumours suggesting that admission could be secured through favouritism or personal connections, emphasising that competence, excellence and individual performance are the sole criteria for selection from among thousands of applicants.

Lieutenant GeneralZaher added that Kayan University of the Armed Forces was established under President Sisi’s directives to provide an advanced educational environment that nurtures innovation and excellence across a wide range of disciplines.

The university aims to equip Egyptian youth with world-class knowledge and skills, preparing a new generation of highly qualified professionals capable of supporting the country’s sustainable development and contributing to its future prosperity.
