Egypt’s natural gas and fuel supplies are fully secured for power stations and other consumption sectors, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi said on Friday during a visit to the national gas network control centre.
Badawi reviewed the network’s operational stability and plans to meet domestic demand in August, as well as various operating scenarios and contingency measures, according to a ministry statement.
He ordered continued monitoring, heightened readiness and rapid responses to any changes to ensure the stability of energy supplies.
The minister said early preparations and proactive scenarios developed ahead of the summer had helped maintain supply stability, citing coordination between the petroleum and electricity ministries and support from the political leadership and prime minister.
“Emergency plans, proactive scenarios and alternative operating arrangements prepared in advance have proved effective in responding immediately to developments,” the statement quoted Badawi as saying.
The ministry is monitoring all elements of the supply system around the clock to ensure the reliability and flexibility of the national natural gas network and the continuity of energy supplies, he added.
