Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received prominent Egyptians of Armenian descent on Thursday, as part of Egypt’s recognition of their longstanding contributions to the country’s development.
Egyptians of Armenian descent have played a notable role in Egyptian diplomacy. Boghos Youssufian was the first to head Egypt’s Foreign Ministry in 1826. He was followed by several prominent figures of Armenian descent, including Nubar Pasha Nubar, who served as president of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting highlighted the historic and national contributions of Egyptians of Armenian descent to Egypt’s state-building process.
