The Export Development Fund (EDF) and the Agricultural Export Council (AEC) have held a meeting to review performance indicators of Egypt’s agricultural exports and explore opportunities to accelerate growth.
The session was chaired by Hatem El‑Nawawi, CEO of EDF, and Abdel Hamid El‑Demerdash, Chairman of AEC, in line with directives from Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Dr. Mohamed Farid to monitor export sector performance.
El‑Nawawi stated that the next phase will focus on horizontal and vertical expansion of agricultural exports, opening new markets, and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products. He highlighted the importance of leveraging trade agreements and diversifying export products to meet the needs of different markets, thereby increasing added value and boosting returns. He also noted that EDF is advancing digital transformation through automation projects to streamline procedures, improve transparency, and ease administrative burdens on exporters.
El‑Demerdash emphasized expanding the exporter base, particularly among SMEs, and ensuring compliance with international market requirements. He called for stronger cooperation between government and private sector to achieve sustainable growth, improve product quality, and enhance accessibility to global markets.
Both sides agreed to maintain regular coordination to track performance, monitor global market trends, and respond swiftly to challenges, supporting Egypt’s strategy to increase exports and strengthen global competitiveness.
