The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday that efforts are exerted around the clock to provide support for Egyptian citizens fleeing Ukraine into neighbouring countries.
In a press release, the ministry said Egypt’s embassies in Ukraine’s neighbouring countries provide all possible assistance for the Egyptian expats, check on their living conditions constantly and prepare transportation means to carry them into these countries.
The Egyptian embassies are in touch with the authorities concerned in Ukraine’s neighbouring countries to offer accommodation for citizens at hotels and shelters, the ministry noted.
According to the ministry, nearly 81 Egyptians moved from Ukraine to Poland on Tuesday, taking the total number of Egyptian citizens who crossed the Ukrainian-Polish border to 453 since the start of the Ukrainian-Russian conflicts last month.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Ambassador to Hungary Mohamed Shennawy met with a group of Egyptian citizens, who arrived from Ukraine, to check on their living conditions and offer all possible support for them.
According to the ministry, the Egyptian Embassy in Budapest coordinated with the Hungarian authorities and managed to bring a group of Egyptian citizens and students back home.
Moreover, Egypt’s Ambassador to Slovakia Bassem Khalil maintained coordination with the Slovakian authorities to carry Egyptian citizens from the country’s border with Ukraine to Bratislava.
He also met a group of Egyptian citizens, who fled Ukraine, to inquire after their living conditions.
The embassy will continue to offer all possible support for the Egyptian citizens until they return to their homeland, Khalil noted.
