The Egyptian Drug City, better known as Gypto Pharma City, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Djibouti’s Bacha Group to establish a strategic partnership to boost pharmaceutical security and expand the reach of Egyptian medicines across the Horn of Africa.

The agreement was signed during an official visit by a Hibo Bacha, Chairwoman of Bacha Group. The visit focused on means to boost bilateral co-operation in the pharmaceutical industry and support regional health security initiatives.

The two sides held extensive discussions on enhancing strategic co-operation between Egypt and Djibouti in the pharmaceutical sector.

During the visit, Gypto Pharma presented its advanced manufacturing capabilities and integrated production facilities, highlighting its compliance with international quality standards and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.

Discussions also focused on the pharmaceutical needs of the Djibouti and East African markets, paving the way for the registration and direct supply of a range of high-quality Egyptian medicines to help meet growing healthcare demand in the region.

Both sides underscored Djibouti’s strategic importance as a major logistics and commercial gateway to the Horn of Africa.

The meeting concluded with signing the MoU, laying the foundation for a long-term partnership focused on enhancing pharmaceutical security and expanding industrial and commercial cooperation.

For her part, Hibo Bacha praised Gypto Pharma’s advanced manufacturing and technological capabilities, describing the company as a reliable partner for meeting the pharmaceutical needs of African markets.

She said the partnership marks an important step towards strengthening economic and healthcare cooperation between Djibouti and Egypt.

The agreement forms part of Egypt’s broader strategy to strengthen its industrial and economic presence across Africa, promote regional integration and reinforce the position of Egyptian pharmaceuticals as a key contributor to regional health security and sustainable development.
