The net foreign assets (NFAs) of Egypt’s banking sector rose to $31.2 billion in August 2026, the highest level recorded since January 2020, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The data showed that NFAs held by commercial banks rose to $12.4 billion in August. It also showed that the CBE’s NFAs reached $18.8 billion during the same month.
The increase brought the banking sector’s total NFAs to their highest level in more than six years.
