The Egyptian Armed Forces unveiled a new intake of conscripts for the first recruitment phase of January 2027.
The registration and medical examinations will be conducted on different dates depending on educational qualifications.
The announcement was approved by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher.
The new intake will begin receiving eligible recruits on Saturday.
For holders of higher education qualifications, the intake includes those born between May 1 and August 31, in all years up to and including 2006, who graduated from universities and higher institutes between February 1 and July 31, 2026.
They will be received at conscription and mobilisation offices from October 15, 2026, with registration and medical examinations scheduled at the relevant recruitment areas from October 28 to November 19.
The second category covers those born between May 1 and August 31, in all years up to and including 2006, who obtained their qualifications between February 1 and July 31, 2026, as well as those who failed to report for conscription in previous years.
They will be received at conscription and mobilisation offices from November 10, with registration and medical examinations taking place from November 21 to November 24, 2026.
The third category includes those born in January, February or March 2007 who obtained their qualifications by the end of the 2025/2026 academic year.
It also covers graduates of the 2025/2026 academic year born in January, February or March in previous years up to and including 2006, as well as those who failed to report for conscription in previous years.
They will be received at conscription and mobilisation offices from September 26, 2026, with registration and medical examinations scheduled from October 5 to October 27.
The fourth category covers those born in January, February or March 2007 who do not hold educational qualifications, as well as those who failed to report for conscription in previous years.
They will be received at conscription and mobilisation offices from November 15, 2026, with registration and medical examinations taking place from November 25 to December 3.
Required documents
Applicants must submit their national ID card, military service form, original birth certificate, criminal record certificate issued by the relevant police station, blood-type certificate and the original educational qualification.
Applicants who are entitled to exemption, deferment or exclusion from military service must submit the documents proving their eligibility.
Qualifications obtained outside Egypt must be certified by the Supreme Council of Universities. Otherwise, applicants will be treated according to their latest officially recognised qualification.
Applicants married to foreign nationals must submit the relevant supporting documents so that their cases can be handled in accordance with the law.
Applicants without educational qualifications who work in trades, professions or as drivers are also required to declare their occupations so they can benefit from the six-month reduction in military service provided for under Egyptian law.
Online service
To make the process easier and reduce the number of visits to conscription and mobilisation offices, the Armed Forces have introduced a pre-booking service allowing applicants to schedule registration and medical examination appointments online.
Applicants can visit the Conscription and Mobilisation Department’s website at tagned.mod.gov.eg.
