Chairman of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation(AOI) Mohamed Abdel Fattah Abou Bakr and Industry Minister Khaled Hashem inspected on Sunday the Digital Manufacturing Centre (DMC) at the AOI’s Engine Factory in Helwan, accompanied by Chairman of Dongfeng Import and Export Co., Ltd., Wang Long.
The AOI has advanced engineering and manufacturing capabilities and remains a key partner in implementing Egypt’s industrial development plans, Abou Bakr said.
He stressed the importance of forging strategic partnerships with leading international companies to facilitate technology transfer, boost local manufacturing and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian industry.
He referred to the Digital Manufacturing Centre as a cornerstone of Egypt’s strategy to deepen local manufacturing and localise technology in both civilian and defence industries.
The facility is equipped with advanced technologies associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including multi-axis CNC machining centres, digital lathes and milling machines, precision measurement systems, dynamic balancing units and integrated digital management systems.
The AOI chairman added that the centre had successfully localised the production of components for several products, including water pumps used in drinking water, wastewater and industrial treatment projects serving the presidential Decent Life initiative.
For his part, Hashem reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to promoting smart manufacturing and technological transformation to strengthen the industrial base, boost exports and integrate Egyptian industry into regional and global value chains.
He highlighted the importance of making the most of the centre’s capabilities to develop local expertise and increase the added value of domestic industries.
For his part, Dongfeng Chief Wang Long praised the AOI’s industrial capabilities and its role in localising advanced manufacturing technologies. He said the discussions had opened up promising prospects for new industrial partnerships, investment opportunities and closer industrial integration between the two sides.
The visit concluded with an agreement to continue discussions on potential areas of co-operation and strengthen industrial partnerships to support technology transfer, attract investment and advance Egypt’s sustainable development goals.
