Egypt’s agricultural exports have exceeded 6.2 million tonnes so far this year, underscoring the strong global reputation of Egypt’s produce, Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk said on Sunday
According to the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine, citrus fruits topped the list with 2.3 million tonnes, followed by fresh potatoes, 918,000 tonnes, sweet potatoes at 235,000 tonnes, grapes at 180,000 tonnes and fresh onions at 155,000 tonnes. Beans (fresh and dry) ranked sixth with 136,000 tonnes, alongside exports of strawberries, garlic, tomatoes, mangoes, guava and pomegranates.
The achievement reflects growing confidence in Egyptian crops, which meet the highest international health and quality standards thanks to strict inspection and tracking systems, Farouk added.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to expand market access in Africa, Asia and the Americas, while supporting farmers and exporters with technical assistance.
The minister confirmed that the government is committed to further improving crop quality, strengthening supply chains and widening the base of exporters to enhance competitiveness in global markets.
