Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a telephone call on Monday with his Sudanese counterpart, Mohieddin Salem, as part of Egypt’s efforts to enhance bilateral ties.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Nader Zaki said the two ministers stressed the depth of Egyptian-Sudanese relations and the historic bonds between the two brotherly Nile Valley peoples. They agreed on the importance of further developing bilateral relations to serve the interests of both countries and peoples, in light of the outcomes of the recent meeting between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan in Alamein.
The spokesman added that the ministers underlined the mutual commitment at the highest levels in both countries to strengthen bilateral relations across various fields. They also agreed to maintain co-ordination and consultation, stressing the mutual respect underpinning ties between the two countries, including respect for each country’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and borders.
The ministers also discussed ways to implement the outcomes of the consultative quadrilateral summit held in Alamein, which brought together the leaders of Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia.
