Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aati, held a phone conversation with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on the latest developments and repercussions of the recent regional escalation.
The call was part of the ongoing consultations and coordination between Egypt and Qatar on issues of mutual interest.
During the talks, the two ministers underscored the importance of containing the current tensions and preventing any further expansion of the conflict.
They urged all parties to give priority to diplomatic efforts and dialogue, and to return to the negotiating table to implement the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran, as a step toward reaching a final agreement that would help ease tensions and promote regional security and stability.
Abdel-Aati also reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of the recent attacks against a number of Gulf countries and Jordan, stressing the importance of respecting the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of these countries, as well as all Arab Gulf states.
