The head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, Major General Hassan Rashad, met on Saturday with Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, deputy commander-in-chief of the Libyan National Army, in the coastal city of El Alamein to discuss developments in Libya, AlQahera News reported.
The talks focused on efforts to advance Libya’s political process by unifying the country’s executive authorities and paving the way for stability and presidential and parliamentary elections, it said.
Rashad stressed the importance of capitalising on the current political momentum surrounding various initiatives as an opportunity to promote stability and national unity in Libya, it added.
