BERLIN – Egypt and Germany are linked by strong and extended bilateral ties, said head of the German-Egyptian Parliamentary Friendship Group MP Stephan Albani.

The Egyptian and German sides appreciate the close ties binding the two countries, he added in exclusive statements to MENA correspondent in Berlin.

Admitting that there several challenges besetting the two countries, Albani, however, said that Egypt plays a crucial role in the overall stability of the Middle East.

Germany attaches special importance to Egypt’s role in the Middle East, he went on to say.

Talking about the anticipated visit of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Germany, Albani said that President Sisi’s visit to Germany, scheduled on Sunday, is of special importance.

President Sisi’s visit to Germany would be a perfect opportunity to discuss the challenges and the future plans which will be adopted within the upcoming weeks and months, he added.

The issue of gas supplies will figure high during President Sisi’s visit to Germany, he said, noting that this issue constitutes a major crisis in Germany.

The global food security is a matter of great concern, he further said.

Talking about the German investments in Egypt, Albani said that the German company Siemens Mobility is cooperating with Egypt to build a safe and sustainable electric railway system, adding that Germany is also implementing several infrastructure projects in Egypt.
