Trading volumes on the Egyptian Exchange have risen to LE 4 trillion ($82 billion), with investors returning strongly to the market, exchange chairman Omar Radwan told AlQahera News on Sunday.
Egypt’s continued classification as an emerging market has strengthened international institutions’ confidence in the Egyptian market, Radwan said.
The exchange is targeting the creation of new private insurance funds to support long-term investment, while upcoming listings aim to help companies expand and become larger corporate entities, he said.
Three companies are currently included in mid-cap indices, with trading volumes in those stocks increasing, Radwan added. New companies are also expected to join the market as part of efforts to boost trading volumes and double market capitalisation.
Newly listed companies with a market value exceeding LE50 billion will receive a 15 per cent tax incentive for three years, he said.
The exchange is also studying the use of artificial intelligence to monitor market developments, Radwan said.
