Egyptian Minister of Emigration Soha el-Gendy asserted last Tuesday the depth of Egyptian-European ties in several issues related to sustainable development.
This came during celebrations of Europe day, which the minister attended on behalf of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli.
Social Solidarity Minister Nevine el Kabbag, head of the EU Delegation to Egypt Christian Berger and officials were also present.
This year’s Europe Day marks 46 years of EU-Egypt ties and 51 years of regional cooperation
“Egypt has joint files with the EU on emigration and trade exchange in addition to development, investment and culture,” el-Gendy said.
For his part, Berger said: “The visions and ideals behind the creation of the European Union 65 years ago are celebrated each year on May 9. This is the day when French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman presented his idea in 1950 on how to put an end to centuries of wars and bloodshed among European peoples. This vision of peace and an ever closer union remains just as relevant today.”
Berger lauded the Egyptian government for its efforts in different files, topped by the partnership council of the EU.
Egypt is a strategic partner for the EU especially in the climate issue and working to reach more memoranda of understanding in energy, he added.
