President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides asserted that establishing a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders is the only guarantee for lasting peace in the region.
Their remarks were made during a meeting they had on Monday on the sidelines of the 8th edition of Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition “EGYPES 2025”, held at Al-Manara International Conference Center in the Fifth Settlement, New Cairo.
In statements, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy said that the two leaders discussed the conditions in the occupied Palestinian lands.
They also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to implement Gaza ceasefire agreement and its three phases.
The two sides also took up Egypt’s genuine efforts to continue the prisoner-for-hostage swaps and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged Gaza Strip in light of its serious humanitarian crisis.
During the meeting, the Cypriot president was posted on the ongoing Egyptian efforts to develop an integrated proposal for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without displacing the Palestinians or forcing them to leave their land.
They also discussed the situation in Syria, Lebanon and Libya, underlining the importance of preserving the stability of the three countries and protecting their unity and territorial integrity, in a way that helps shore up regional and international peace and security.
The meeting tackled boosting bilateral cooperation in various fields and within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism grouping Egypt, Cyprus and Greece.
The two sides stressed their keenness to continue coordination in various domains with the view to fulfilling the aspirations of the two countries’ peoples.
Talks also dealt with means to boost cooperation in the areas of natural gas production, liquefaction and transportation, in a way that serves the two countries’ interests and the whole European continent.
