Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production Ashraf Salem Zaher, has approved the announcement for a new intake of conscripts for the October 2026 phase.
The details were disclosed during a press conference held by Major General Ahmed Mostafa Sadeq, Director of the Tenders and Mobilisation Department. Major General Sadeq outlined all specifications and timings for the upcoming cohort expected to join the ranks of the Armed Forces.
Reception of conscripts at recruitment offices will commence on Saturday, 4 July 2026, according to the following criteria:
1. Higher qualification holders:
- Eligibility: Individuals born between 1 January and 30 April (January, February, March, and April) of all years up to 2006, who obtained their academic qualifications between 1 February 2026 and 31 July 2026 from all higher colleges and institutes.
- Medical & healthcare graduates: Graduates of faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Applied Health Science Technology, and Allied Medical Sciences who completed their internship/training period between 1 February 2026 and 31 July 2026. This also includes those from previous years who failed to apply for conscription on time.
- Timeline: Reception at enlistment and mobilisation offices begins on 1 August 2026. Registration and medical examinations at recruitment zones will take place from 11 August to 3 September 2026.
2. Above-average qualification holders
- Eligibility: Individuals born between 1 January and 30 April (January, February, March, and April) of all years up to 2006, who obtained their qualifications between 1 February 2026 and 31 July 2026, alongside individuals from previous years who failed to apply for conscription.
- Timeline: Reception at enlistment and mobilisation offices begins on 27 July 2026. Registration and medical examinations at recruitment zones will take place from 8 August to 10 August 2026.
3. Average qualification holders
- Eligibility: Individuals born in October, November, and December 2006 who obtained their qualifications up to the 2024/2025 academic year. This also includes individuals born in October, November, and December of all previous years up to and including 2005 who graduated in the 2024/2025 academic year, as well as those from previous years who failed to apply for conscription.
- Timeline: Reception at enlistment and mobilisation offices begins on 4 July 2026. Registration and medical examinations at recruitment zones will take place from 7 July to 28 July 2026.
4. Non-qualification holders
- Eligibility: Individuals born in October, November, and December 2006, as well as those from previous years who failed to apply for conscription.
- Timeline: Reception at enlistment and mobilisation offices begins on 15 July 2026. Registration and medical examinations at recruitment zones will take place from 29 July to 6 August 2026.
Required documents
Applicants must present the following documentation:
- National ID card.
- Original birth certificate.
- Military and National Service Card (Form 6 Gond).
- Criminal record certificate (issued by the police station or district to which the applicant belongs).
- Blood type certificate.
- Original academic certificate for all qualifications, plus the internship/training certificate for graduates of medical and healthcare faculties.
- Marriage certificate (for married individuals).
- Driving licence (for those who hold one).
- Dismissal letters for students dismissed from their studies, specifying the date and reason for the decision.
- Appointment decree (for teaching assistants and resident physicians).
Important guidelines for conscripts
- Exemptions and deferrals: Anyone entitled to a military exemption, deferral, or exclusion must submit the supporting documents to prove their eligibility.
- Private institutions: For graduates of private universities and institutes, the qualification date will be recognised based on the date the results were officially approved by the competent minister.
- Qualifications from abroad: Degrees obtained outside Egypt must be accredited and equated by the Supreme Council of Universities. Failing this, applicants will be treated based on their last accredited domestic qualification.
- Foreign spouses: Men married to foreign nationals must present relevant documentation so their legal status can be processed accordingly.
- Data verification: No alterations or amendments should be made to data recorded on qualification certificates. All certificates (average, above-average, and higher) will be verified in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.
- University appointments: Universities must issue ministerial decrees appointing teaching assistants and resident physicians on the first of April or October each year, prior to the approval of reserve officer intakes. This ensures they are excluded from nomination as reserve officers to safeguard their professional futures.
- Trades and crafts: Non-qualification holders who are tradesmen, craftsmen, or drivers must declare their profession to benefit from a legally mandated six-month reduction in their military service period.
- IT specialists: Young men who hold professional civilian training certificates in information technology must state this and present documentation upon applying. This ensures they are assigned to military units matching their academic qualifications and technical expertise.
To facilitate the process and reduce foot traffic at recruitment offices, a pre-booking service has been introduced. Conscripts can schedule their registration and medical examination timings in advance via the Tenders and Mobilisation Department’s official website.
