EgyptAir said on Sunday that it would operate a series of special flights between the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh and Mitiga Airport in Libyan capital Tripoli.
The flights, the Egyptian carrier said, would start on August 9, until October 11.
They would be used in carrying groups of Libyan tourists from Libya to Sharm el-Sheikh, the company said.
The flights come within the framework of the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s strategy to encourage the air and tourist traffic coming to Egypt from various regional and global air transport markets, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for EgyptAir, AmrAbulEnin, said.
He added that the flights also come within the ministry’s efforts to provide all facilities for tourists coming to Egypt.
There will be one flight between Mitiga and Sharm el-Sheik every week.
EgyptAir said it would operate Boeing B737-800 aircraft on this route. The one aircraft can carry 154 passengers at a time.
The company expected the new flights to contribute to revitalizing the movement of Libyan tourists to Egypt.
