CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat said that Egypt began vigorous efforts years ago to develop sustainable infrastructure and implement major national projects in the fields of green transformation, including renewable energy, water and transportation.
Egypt has recently taken steps to implement constructive partnerships in the field of green hydrogen generation, and is also working to implement economic and structural reforms aimed at stimulating the private sector’s participation in implementing successful development projects, the minister told a discussion session on “Sustainable Financing towards COP 27” organized by the European Investment Bank (EIB), in partnership with the European University Institute (EUI).
Benban Solar Park offers a model of government partnerships with the private sector, as it was implemented after the state took clear measures on structural reforms in the field of renewable energy, which allowed private and foreign investments of about $4 billion to implement one of the largest solar energy complexes in the region and the world, she added.
