Egypt welcomed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a 10-day ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, describing it as an important step toward de-escalation and ending Israeli attacks.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, Cairo stressed the need for Israel to fully halt all military operations in Lebanon, reiterating its firm support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as the empowerment of its national institutions.
Egypt also renewed its call for Israel’s immediate and complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 without selectivity.
Egypt further urged the international community to assume its responsibilities in ensuring the sustainability of the ceasefire.
It emphasized the importance of alleviating the suffering of Lebanese civilians, guaranteeing safe and continuous delivery of humanitarian aid, and creating conditions that allow displaced persons to return to their homes.
