Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, said Egypt and Uzbekistan have strong historic ties and that political leadership has worked to expand economic and agricultural co-operation and promote investment opportunities to support sustainable food security.
Farouk made the remarks during a meeting on Friday with a high-level Uzbek government delegation to discuss co-operation in agriculture, food security and mutual investment.
He highlighted Egypt’s recent advances in desert land reclamation, including the Future of Egypt project, as well as research efforts to develop high-yield, climate-resilient crops and water-saving farming technologies.
The Uzbek delegation expressed keenness to benefit from Egyptian expertise, particularly seed development and seed production.
The two sides agreed to expand co-operation to livestock, veterinary services and applied agricultural research, while supporting partnerships between government institutions, research centers and the private sector.
