Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem has urged local manufacturers to adopt advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, to boost productivity, cut costs and strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets.
Hashem made the remarks on Tuesday at the opening of the eighth edition of the FDC Digital Industry Summit, held at the Al-Manara International Conference Centre in New Cairo, in the presence of Communications and Information Technology Minister Raafat Hendy.
He said the summit came at a time of unprecedented advances in AI applications and digital technologies, highlighting its role as a platform for dialogue and knowledge-sharing on key issues, including artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
The minister stressed the importance of harnessing these technologies to support economic growth, attract investment and improve the efficiency of institutions and businesses.
“Technology adoption and its integration into production systems have become key determinants of competitiveness and investment attraction,” Hashem said.
He highlighted the ministry’s efforts to promote digital transformation, AI, industrial automation and smart manufacturing, noting that these technologies can improve product quality, enhance production and supply-chain efficiency, reduce costs and strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian manufacturers.
Hashem also said Egypt aims to reinforce its position as a regional hub for production and exports by leveraging its geographic location, infrastructure, logistics networks and trade agreements.
These advantages, he added, provide companies investing and manufacturing in Egypt with access to markets across Africa, the Middle East and other international regions.
