Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty spoke with Uganda’s new Foreign Minister Adonia Ayebare to explore ways of strengthening bilateral relations and co-ordinating positions on issues of mutual concern. Abdelatty congratulated his counterpart on assuming office and expressed Egypt’s readiness to deepen political and economic co-operation, building on President El‑Sisi’s visit to Kampala in May 2026.
He highlighted opportunities in infrastructure, energy, dam construction, mining, agriculture, water management and pharmaceuticals, while inviting Ugandan businesses to join the upcoming Alamein–Africa Business Forum in October.
The two ministers also exchanged views on peace, security and development in Africa, particularly in the Nile Basin, the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region. They agreed to enhance co-ordination bilaterally and multilaterally to support stability and development across the continent. Abdelatty stressed the importance of co-operation on the Nile for mutual benefit, adherence to international law, and rejection of unilateral measures. He also invited Ayebare to attend the sixth Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development in November.
