The Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) on Tuesday received a delegation from Türkiye’s Nuclear Energy Technical Support Organisation (NUTED) during a visit to El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant site.

The delegation was received by NPPA Chairman Sherif Helmy and a number of senior authority officials. Helmy welcomed the Turkish delegation, stressing the importance of mutual visits in strengthening co-operation and exchanging technical expertise in nuclear energy-related fields.

The two sides reviewed NUTED’s areas of work, as well as the NPPA’s efforts to implement the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project. A detailed presentation covered the project’s various stages, the key work currently under way at the site and progress achieved across its different phases.

Following the meeting, the Turkish delegation made a field tour of El Dabaa site, where it reviewed the progress of construction and received briefings from specialists on the project’s implementation status.

The visit is part of NPPA’s strategy to strengthen international co-operation and exchange expertise across various areas of the nuclear industry. The strategy aims to support national capacity building and benefit from specialised international expertise.

El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant is of strategic importance to Egypt as one of the country’s major national projects and a key pillar in diversifying the energy mix, enhancing energy security and supporting sustainable development.

At the conclusion of the visit, the NUTED delegation expressed appreciation for the progress it had witnessed in implementing El Dabaa project and for the various works and construction stages under way at the site. The delegation also stressed the importance of maintaining communication between the two sides and continuing to exchange expertise in areas of mutual interest.

The NPPA reaffirmed its commitment to expanding co-operation with specialised international institutions and organisations. Such efforts aim to support the implementation of El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project in line with the highest standards, enhance the role of nuclear energy as a safe and reliable source of power, and contribute to Egypt’s development efforts.
