Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare, Ahmed El‑Sobky, and Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, met on Saturday to review the outcomes of the authority’s recent visit to Türkiye.
The discussions focused on translating these results into practical co-operation in areas including medical training, capacity building, knowledge and technology transfer, healthcare investment, medical tourism, sustainability, green hospitals, and mobile healthcare facilities.
El-Sobky confirmed that a tripartite agreement between the authority, Koç University Hospital and Medtronic will be activated to train 20 Egyptian doctors in the latest technologies in robotic surgery, catheterisation and advanced cardiac interventions.
The two sides discussed expanding partnerships with leading Turkish healthcare institutions, including Esteworld and Acıbadem Group, to explore ways to co-operate in managing healthcare facilities in South Sinai, drawing on Türkiye’s expertise in medical tourism to attract international patients.
The two sides discussed flexible healthcare solutions for tourist areas and regions with growing healthcare needs, as well as professional and scientific exchange at international events, particularly COP31 in Antalya.
Ambassador Şen, for his part, affirmed Türkiye’s readiness to support partnerships between the authority and major Turkish medical institutions, facilitate cooperation with Koç and Medtronic.
Both sides agreed to continue coordination to implement the discussed programmes, strengthening healthcare co-operation, transferring expertise and technology.
