Egypt has topped Arab countries in the number of projects related to production and use of hydrogen, said the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Centre (IDSC).
The centre explained in a paper – which it issued on localising green hydrogen project – that there are nine hydrogen projects in Egypt; five for green hydrogen production, one for green ammonia, two for blue hydrogen and one for blue ammonia.
This came on the back of a number of significant steps taken by the state to localise hydrogen projects and enhance co-operation with international funding institutions and partners.
The Finance Ministry issued bonds to support investment in renewable energy projects.
Egypt has promising opportunities to compete in the markets of green hydrogen worldwide, the paper added.
