The House of Representatives will host the 10th Summit of Speakers of Parliaments of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM), along with the Assembly’s 19th Plenary Session, at its headquarters in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital on July 4-5, under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Mohamed Abu El Enein.
The two-day event will open with the Summit of Speakers, followed by meetings of the Assembly’s five standing committees and Bureau sessions to discuss issues of common interest to member states.
The plenary session, scheduled for July 5, will endorse the recommendations of the standing committees and adopt the summit’s final declaration.
The deliberations will centre on Egypt’s priorities during its presidency of the Assembly, including strengthening parliamentary diplomacy in support of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, advancing a human-centered approach to artificial intelligence governance, promoting Euro-Mediterranean economic integration, and empowering youth and women through greater participation in decision-making and sustainable regional development.
