WASHINGTON – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted that Egypt would continue its strenuous efforts to contribute to settling regional crises which are directly affecting the security and stability of the region and the world, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

This came during Sisi’s meeting with US Senator Lindsy Graham who welcomed the Egyptian president’s visit to the US, praising the depth of relations binding the two friendly countries.

Graham voiced resolve for enhancing and developing the strategic partnership that links the two countries and proceeding them to wider horizons in the coming phase in the various fields.

Sisi, on his part, voiced Egypt’s appreciation for the outstanding and extended relations binding the two friendly countries, noting that Egypt was keen on sustaining and promoting its partnership with the US in the various fields of common interest.

The spokesman also added that the meeting dealt with means of enhancing joint relations in a number of fields along with a set of issues and regional crises topped by the situation in Syria, Libya and Yemen.

In this respect, Sisi explained that Egypt would sustain its strenuous efforts to contribute to settling crises facing the region which are directly affecting the security and stability of the region and the world.

Sisi also asserted that Egypt’s efforts aimed at seeking to work out political solutions in the first place and supporting the institutions of the national State as they are the actual means for counting the terrorist elements and organizations that strives hard to spread chaos and demolish the concept of the state.

The meeting also covered current efforts to revive the Middle East peace process, said the spokesman, noting that President Sisi pointed out that efforts to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict should be carried out in accordance with the international terms of reference, the two-state solution and the Arab peace initiative.

Sisi also asserted that Cairo would back any efforts aimed at reviving the peace process and resuming negotiations on the bases that guarantee the achievement of the Palestinian people’s aspirations and hopes to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, a matter that could change the current status quo and open horizons for a new phase of security, progress and peaceful coexistence for all peoples of the region.
