Egypt’s Grand Mufti Nazir Ayyad and Mahmoud Al-Habbash, Chief Justice of Palestine and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ adviser for religious affairs, discussed developments in the Palestinian cause and the role of religious institutions in supporting it.
The meeting was held on Saturday on the sidelines of the 11th International Conference on Fatwa in Cairo.
Ayyad stressed that the Palestinian cause remains deeply rooted in Egypt’s national consciousness, highlighting the need to maintain support for the Palestinian people amid the difficult circumstances they face.
He said Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta considers the Palestinian cause among its top priorities, stressing the religious and humanitarian responsibility to support the Palestinian people.
Al-Habbash praised Egypt’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and its longstanding role in backing the Palestinian cause. He also commended Egyptian religious institutions for promoting awareness of the Palestinian cause and preserving its place in Arab and Islamic consciousness.
He stressed the importance of continued communication between religious leaders and institutions in Egypt and Palestine and of exchanging views on issues affecting the Arab and Islamic world, particularly the Palestinian cause.
