Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid held an extensive meeting with senior executives from DP World, led by Mohamed Shehab, Chief Executive Officer for Egypt and the Levant.

The two sides explored ways of leveraging the group’s global logistics network to enhance the competitiveness of local exports and facilitate their access to international markets, particularly across Africa.

Farid said the ministry is pursuing a strategy of fostering partnerships between Egypt’s exporting community and leading global companies specialising in transport, logistics and supply chain management. He stressed that advanced logistics solutions have become essential to improving trade efficiency.

Farid reaffirmed that the ministry is executing a comprehensive programme to modernise Egypt’s investment and foreign trade ecosystem through streamlined procedures, enhanced logistics services and stronger coordination among relevant institutions. These efforts, he said, are intended to support the state’s objective of increasing exports while expanding the private sector’s contribution to economic growth.

He highlighted Africa as a key pillar of Egypt’s export strategy, citing the country’s network of free trade agreements with African nations.

For his part, Mohamed Shehab outlined DP World’s global operations, noting that the group operates in more than 85 countries through an integrated network of ports, logistics zones, distribution centres and supply chain services. He said the company facilitates around 10% of global trade, while nearly 23% of Egypt’s foreign trade passes through Ain Sokhna Port, which is operated by DP World.
